It’s the time of year again when the outside of homes get spruced up with new mulch and flowers. We also see old homes become new! This spring, Ascension Home Contractors took on a great task of renovating an entire home Northwest Washington, D.C. Our clients wanted to bring this 1920’s home into the 21st Century.
This 1926 row house in located in Northwest Washington, D.C. will have an update exterior with removal of shutters, new windows, new roof and a new color exterior with painted brick.
Homes from the 1920’s typically lacked in bathrooms on the first floor. The owners desired of a first floor half bathroom. This half bathroom allows for the convenience for guests and owners when on the first level but also allows for privacy, as you do not have to enter the bedroom quarters to use the bathroom.
Prior to the rehab, this home boasted one bathroom on the 2nd level, this bathroom had to be shared with all three bedrooms on the 2nd floor. We installed an in suite bathroom in the master bedroom but we also added an additional full bathroom on the second floor living quarters.
New life is brought into the home with installation of two skylights on the main floor. Skylights have many advantages in the home, which include bringing natural light into the home, reduced electricity consumption and increased visual appeal into the home. Skylights also have personal benefits which are increased well-being and Vitamin D which all promote psychological benefits.
We can’t wait until this Washington D.C. Home is complete. We will update you on the final project pictures once complete.
